piracy... [Nov. 12th, 2007|11:20 am]
Lars
[Current Mood |sleepysleepy]
[Current Music |matthew good - metal airplanes]

got this in my email early early this morning, regarding music piracy:

Dear registered user of the site What.cd,

We have recently been investigating the activities of the users of the
site http://www.what.cd/ and we have found that this site exists for the
sole purpose of music piracy.

Pirating music is a criminal offence and we believe it should be obvious
to you that the results outweigh the benefits - hard working artists
won't be rewarded for their work and will stop producing music,
ultimately leading to a severely reduced selection of music both in the
shops and for download.

The RIAA had hoped that the disabling by the police of the large illegal
music site, Oink.cd, would stop a lot of people from engaging in piracy,
as they don't want to be seen as criminals. However, this appears to
not be the case, as two large new sites have sprung up in its place.

This email is the final warning to all of you who were members of
Oink.cd and are current members of What.cd. If we find you to be
committing any more criminal acts of piracy then we will have to press
charges against you, as representatives of the major record companies of
America.

Yours Faithfully,

The RIAA

supposedly, this is a fake (it seems like it, too) sent out by some 14 year old british kid, but it got me thinking about how much i'm willing to risk it by constantly downloading music. i don't really have a job, and even if i did, i don't think my bank account would be able to withstand a swift kick to the balls by the RIAA. it's a pretty huge risk compared to a pretty small reward.

28 weeks later has a shitty plot, but the filmmaking is pretty good. it's crazy intense.

I'm glad to have the important people that are in my life.

I'm also glad to to have unimportant people in my life, because they make the important people seem even better by comparison. Useful shot, that.

random bowling log [Dec. 17th, 2006|04:27 pm]
Lars
going off of what i can remember

december 8, 06 -- 2 games
december 12, 06 -- 7 games
december 13, 06 -- 1 game
december 14, 06 -- 3 games
december 17, 06 -- 6 games
december 20, 06 -- 3 games

game count: 22
$ spent on games: $29.50
$ spent on shoe rental: $3.00
$ spent on shoes (purchased): $25.16
$ total spent: $52.66
$ average per game: 2.62

yeah, so based on this trend.. i am going to be broke and buff in one arm. i would try to remember scores, but they're too pitiful. bowling in davis is cheap, $1.25 a game (for the 7-game bowlfest, it was 75 cents a game, so chyeah, i couldn't resist), and we're avoiding "regular" rates at the mission lanes here in milpitas. an average of $2.77 isnt bad, it should stay around there as long as we bowl during cheap hours in milpitas, and should start going down in davis since the shoes should start paying for themselves soon enough

i feel like a nerd...

much ado about nothing [Dec. 15th, 2006|09:44 pm]

much has happened. i figure i'm settled in at davis pretty well. classes are alright, minus the fact that i'm a lazy bastard and skip too many lectures. waitlisted for a class which i need, otherwise i fall even more behind on units. yay. i got a job as photographer with the california aggie (student-run newspaper), so if you're in town grab a copy and look for my media byline (pretty rare nowadays because i am a lazy bastard in that regard, too).

i have a wii now, after an overnight camp-out at best buy a few weeks ago. horny college sluts are flocking to my suite because of it, i swear. i feel like a nerd, but who can resist zelda? there's lots of people to see, and lots of places to go, but for now, i am going to play with a little blonde guy with a sword. yippee for me.

i just got skype last night. i feel asian and womanly because of it, but oh well.

people visited from various other UCs that were out or not doing anything. that was nice, it made me feel all fuzzy inside. thanks to those that did. do it again, and i will treat you to cheap-ass bowling.

on that note, many of us are addicted to bowling. my wrist and fingers are not addicted to the accompanying soreness, but most of me is addicted to it. i got bowling shoes for pretty cheap online. they look like sneakers. i'm sure there's a top-40 hit waiting to be made based on that fact. we saw this dude that looked like a scrawny version of alex smith at the bowling alley last night, and i wanted to hug him, based on the real alex smith's performance at seattle.

it's difficult to think about what to write after not having written anything for months. shit whooshes by pretty quickly. i've met some really nice people, and i've stopped talking to a whole bunch more. that's college for ya. i think the upcoming christmas bash is gonna be kinda weird, since it's basically a bunch of completely separate groups coming together to pretend that we were still one this entire time

going to tahoe the 26th to the 29th, or so goes the plan. the plan today was to go to high school to visit colburno and the journalism kiddos, but you know what they say about mice and men. something about cheese and mazes.

now i'm off to get hyphy. and by hyphy, i mean... not hyphy. or something like that.

Playlist survey thing [Aug. 28th, 2006|06:47 pm]

Incredibly bored. I woke up kinda early today to visit school, just visited some teachers on their prep periods (besides Danielson, who has none ... Hanley, Seals, Keller), then assed out when I got home because of said waking up early. US Open should occupy my otherwise boring days.

Playlist survey redux, hoorahCollapse )
